During my twenties, I was very much into partying, going all out without a care in the world, and experimenting with makeup. Now that I'm in my thirties, my focus has definitely shifted over to skincare, caring for things in general, and comfort. Nothing piques my interest more these days than finding out about new skincare products.
Something that fell on my radar recently (thanks to the effortlessly chic @alyssa.lenore on IG) is the new Pore Cleansing Clay Mask by Erno Laszlo. I picked mine up at Holt Renfrew (they don't carry it at Sephora yet) and it was $62 CAD + tax. Sidenote: I already have a good whitening mask that I keep repurchasing (Shiseido's Purifying Mask - also really good and only $40 CAD) but I wanted one that would detox the impurities beneath the surface of my skin and prevent random breakouts.
Here is what the packaging claims: [on the front] "Exfoliate & Detox." [on the back] "This hydrating, detoxifying mask is the perfect antidote to fight impurities and boost skin's natural defenses."
So here we go. The first thing I noticed when applying this light pink mask was its smooth, almost putty-like texture. It felt like a high quality mask from the get-go. The second thing I noticed was the delicate rose scent - even the most sensitive of noses should be ok with this one. I left it on for half an hour but it totally didn't feel too drying, even when it was completely dry to the touch and ready to be washed off. When I finally did wash it off, my skin felt soft. You know how your face feels when you put on primer before makeup? That's how my skin felt after washing off the mask. It's like a protective velvety veil was left behind in the mask's place. I did wonder afterwards why they claimed it would be exfoliating because I didn't feel any beads at all. However, after taking a peek at the website, it said the mask had sugar cane extract, which exfoliates with glycolic acid. In short, seeing as you've read this far - from one skincare addict to another, this mask is worth looking into!
